The Online Learning Event (OLE) is meant to serve as the “next step” in the continued learning conversations between the State and Tribal Relation Assistance Division (STRAD), Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court (JHWC), and Tribal Youth Program (TY) grantees. The OLE is facilitated in a panel format and features two young adult representatives from the Center for the Coordinated Assistance to States (Kyla Woods & Tina Harris) and two Youth Ambassadors from the Tribal Youth Resource Center (Sydney Matheson & Kaitlin Martinez).
Each of the youth representatives is an informed youth leader who is working in their respective communities to advance the voice and needs of youth. The speakers share the highlights and positive impacts of contributing and participating in the 2022 OJJDP STRAD & Tribal Youth National Conferences: 1) Meetings with Administrator Ryan and other OJJDP staff; 2) attending STRAD & TY sessions; and 3) being provided a platform to share their lived experiences and vision to contribute in the future to juvenile justice policy, research, and program development. These powerful young leaders also share how their voices can be the voices of every community represented at the STRAD & Tribal Youth conferences.
