Many of our Tribal youth continue to have much higher rates of engagement with the juvenile justice system and there continues to be a need for communities to develop and sustain effective partnerships to address the complexity of issues that surround our youth in their interactions with justice systems. This presentation offers participants successful approaches to engage community partners and sustain community collaborations in culturally informed ways. With a focus on strategies that enhance and strengthen the protective factors, this presentation will have a special emphasis on the role of cultural connectedness among our youth and strengthening their capacity to avoid the justice system. Presenters will discuss the role of culture in initiating and sustaining partnerships and collaborations in Native communities and will share tribal best practices for selecting culturally informed and appropriate interventions.
