Dealing with the Invisible Suitcase: An Overview of a Workshop for Resource Parents

While this training is intended for foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers, all caregivers can benefit. This webinar will make participants aware of the profound impact trauma has on children’s development and functioning, and introduce the concepts of the “Invisible Suicide” and the Cognitive Triangle. By learning techniques for helping traumatized children understand and control their emotional and behavioral reactions, participants will be reassured that children can heal from the effects of trauma and will discover the role that resource parents play in the healing process. This webinar comes from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s training curriculum, Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma: A Workshop for Resource Parents. A brief overview of the full training offering will be included.
